Of squirrels and belles.

Since spring has sprung, Theo has been visiting us a lot more. Isn't it funny that he still does his squirrel thing, but he hasn't forgotten us? He knows how to get us outside. Or I guess I should say he knows how to get treats. Food is the ultimate motivator.

The question I get asked most is "How do you keep your cats from getting him?"

Well, I'll tell ya' -

It ain't that hard.

Oh wait!! Wait! There may be movement! Should we guard Theo?!!

Mmmmmm. Nope.

In other funness, we went to a ball and danced and danced! It was so much fun!
You know, every hobby has it's geeks. Everyone tries to lay claim to the term: gamers, techies, book lovers, etc. So I guess this would be the history buff geeks.

Tannehill State Park had their annual civil war reenactment this weekend and I have to say, it was a pretty good time. These people are good actors. They really stick to it. (Except for you, yeah, you, I saw you check your cell phone. Busted!)

The actual battle was a little more emotionally stirring than I was prepared for. For Schyler, too. I was worried for just a minute that it may have been too much for a little girl, but I am glad she has a small understanding of what our soldiers of all wars have been through for her. Her grandfather included. She loves hearing his war stories and I am so glad.

Oh, and speaking of food being the ultimate motivator, we had Indian Fry Bread and cream soda for lunch that was incredible. I'm pretty sure the fry bread couldn't have been very authentic or else obesity wouldn't be a new epidemic, but it sure was good!

Is this the cutest little confederate* you've ever seen? (*That's because we live in the south, not a political statement.)

I believe she was the belle of the ball. They were lovely. I couldn't get a front shot.

It was just lovely! All the whirling and twirling! Actual dancing! Not thrashing idiotic looking bodies! We enjoyed the square dances, but these were the most beautiful. If you haven't done the Virginia Reel or the Patty Cake Polka, I highly recommend you do it today.

Oh, WOW! I would love to go to one of those reenactments and a ball! Pretty dresses!

I live in the same state as Gettysburg but nowhere close. I should make a point of going to a reenactment sometime. Plan a weekend around it or something.

What do you guys give Theo?

I do declare, what a lovely belle:)

I'm a HUGE Gone with the Wind junkie, so I would've really liked this.

I can almost see the scandalous Miss Scarlett, dancing with Rhett in defiance of hr mourning clothes!

Emily, you should definitely make a weekend of it! There's something for everyone, guys and girls. I mean can you go wrong with guns and big dresses??

Oh! And Emily, we usually give Theo nuts and then for a treat we gove him some bread or fruit. Stuff like that. He's so fun.

Hi Mrs. Jennifer,

Gorgeous pictures! Ken goes to reenactments in Ontario, Canada, they do the battle scenes. He says it's great fun, and those guys take it really serious!

Did you get your posting fixed? I noticed that you still had problems last night on Musemater's blog, and at mine too....Mine was back to normal right after that problem situation everything came back to normal for me almost immediately.

Love Theo! I'll have to search your archives to get the rest of the story....

Glad Theo survived the tornado. I was wondering about him.

Love your squirrel. Love the pics from Tannehill. None of our bunch was able to make it with work schedules, etc.

(I think I'm going to make it a "priority" next year.) I want some Indian Fry Bread!

I know, Mollie! We were so glad too! It was quite a while before he came out of hiding afterwards, though, poor guy! Everything was traumatized!

Belinda, the fry bread alone is worth going for, but the dancing is a close second.

I can't believe your squirrel visits you! How cool is that?

And the Tannehill thing looks fabulous. I haven't been there in way too long.
