The Sleep Over

So last night was the first sleep over at our house! Can I tell you that there were some excited girls here. My favorite girl invited her favorite cousin and they did ALL the girl stuff:

giggling, squealing, entertaining us with plays and shows, did I mention giggling, crafts, squealing, giggling, oh yes and make-overs which of course resulted in more giggling.
Please don't miss the fact that the huge giraffe also got a make-over, just in the form of balloons on it's head. See how the chairs are all lined up and everyone had to wait for their turn. I was last.

They wrapped up the night with a bubble bath complete with paint on body soaps that Teacher Aunt gave them. Teacher Aunt is a retired teacher so she has the down-low on what little girls like and always gives the best gifts.

After that we made burritos for supper which favorite cousin stated, "are just like tacos". Then it was most definitely bed time [insert angels singing]. We read a devotion for little kids and let me tell you, these girls had quite a deep theological discussion about temples, towers, and angels. Smart little girls we have here.
Bonus being that I figured out if there is anything I need babe to do outside all I have to do is allow a sleep over! He got the refrigerator cleaned out, he went and bought a few groceries. What a guy! He's the best!
Can't wait to do it again!

New Year Resolutions

Time to start thinking about those resolutions! Come on, you know you are going to: 1. Quit smoking 2. Start exercising 3. Eat healthy

What else? Read more books, be nicer... Those have to be the big ones. We don't smoke, we exercise some, and we eat pretty healthy, we are reading more books and I don't think there is any chance of us being nice, so we'll have to find something else to do.

However, we do have this channel called "FitTV" which is great. I mean, if all I have to do is watch television to get fit I am all over it. Turns out that you can't just watch it, you have to participate so that is kind of disappointing. So the fam tried this "class" called Namaste yoga. I'm a little leary of things I can't pronounce, but decided maybe that could be my resolution - try things I can't pronounce.
I'm just glad we could do this at home and not in a class with other people because there was some moaning and groaning along with a combination of other sounds that I do NOT want to know from where they came.

Christmas Eve buffet of events

Woohoo! Who is looking forward to Christmas festivities!?! We are!

So my favorite girl is officially the big five now. I am officially devastated. I can remember her birth like it was yesterday. I am finally over all the trauma, though, so now it is a memory to share instead of reliving all the horrible feelings.

So anyway...we went to Tennessee for the weekend. I know what you are thinking, oooh she got to go see The Rockettes, walk through all the beautiful lights, go ice skating, all the fun holiday activities. Well, you are wrong. Not my family. We went to a...water park. I am NOT kidding. It was an indoor waterpark and they had a ginormous hot tub, so I was on board for that. And that was pretty much what I did the whole time.

We did take the tram to Ober Gatlinburg and go ice skating which lasted all of about 15 minutes. Or how ever long it took us to make one complete rotation around the rink while holding to the rail.

I was able to work on my Christmas cards in the car on the way up, so they should arrive in your box today or the day after Christmas...did you really expect them any earlier? I know you are dying of curiosity and absolutely haven't been able to sleep waiting to see if I went with the majority vote on the picture for the cards. Well, I'll go ahead and and let the cat out...I chose none of the options I gave you! At the last minute I found one I liked better and went with that. Surprise, surprise. Babe says it's the story of his life.

So I know I have rattled on about absolutely NOTHING! But I felt as though I had to check in with my loyal subjects, all 5 of you. I know I have some stories in here, but they won't come out right now. Probably too deep for you. You couldn't have handled it. Now go and thank God for sending His only Son so that you and I could have the chance to see Him in Heaven. I can't imagine sacrificing my favorite girl, praise Him I don't have to! I can just enjoy the Goodness and Love that is Christ! Happiness is brilliant!

There's gotta be something...

Can I tell you that I know I need to post something and I know I have some good stuff to post. You know, during the day something will happen and I'll think, "oooo I'll blog this" (don't you love how you can make any word a verb these days?) and then when I get a minute to "blog", I can't think of a thing. Let's see...

ordered tickets to see Wicked today. Can't wait, although it's not until April...

I have really been on a high horse about kids/parents behavior lately, being that I see a lot of it, but I just figure there is so much seriousess going on I think I should be easy to digest so I'll shut up before I get started...

Oh I know!! Great news! My favorite girl started reading by herself yesterday! We have been working on blending sounds, but she had not quite gotten it. I wasn't pushing her, just waiting for those signs she was ready and my goodness, when we picked it up she took off! It was so exciting. She couldn't wait to get to school today and read to the "little kids". So now my little genius can read any word with 3 letters that has a short vowel sound in the middle. Oh and the word "the". I'll post a pic with her and her "Bob books" soon.

Nativity Update

As you can see, we have successfully displayed our lovely nativity scene. Baby Jesus will sson be able to join as Babe reattached the severed head this evening. Good ol' Dollar General, they sell everything there. He got some kind of glue that NASA uses on spaceships so it should do the job.

Hopefully you can see that our nativity is probably one of the most historically accurate. It includes wise men, shepherd, sheep, donkey, and pink poodle. I think the poodle was probably abandoned at birth and the sheep took it in as one of its own. Anyway, favorite girl painstakingly set it up being sure that it didn't tip over. She's the best!

So I guess I have to go, tonight's "The Office" night so I have to get ready. Also favorite girl is making me explain every detail of the arrest of this Bloyg-da-von-awona-mon-ovich. Whatever. Anyway, you know, Chicago's governor. She's never happy with the "he did something wrong" answer. I, of course, am glad about that. Shows how smart she is, right?!

Also, Aunt Mama Hen is doing this brilliant give-away, so check out her blog and comment so you can win! And maybe I'll copy her and do a fab (yes, I'm still using it) give-away of my own soon. Do I need a reason? Help me think of a good one...

Very, very bad things..

*Warning* Graphic crime scene follows. Mature audiences only.

My favorite girl and I did a lot of Christmas decorating today. We played a really fun game. It went like this...She hands me the ornaments and I place them on the tree, when she chooses one and has it ready, she rings a tiny little bell until I take it from her, she rings a tiny little bell until I take it from her, she rings a tiny little bell until....oh, sorry, I think it affected my brain in a very negative way.

So anyway, we got out the very beautiful nativity scene that best granny got for me last year and I don't know what happened. I kind of black out at this point. I swear it wasn't on purpose but here is the scene that babe came home to...
I know!! Deplorable! I swear thank goodness tomorrow is Sunday and the altar is open. If I was Catholic I would be there tonight. Being in law enforcement babe gives me the third degree and favorite girl squeals that it was all me. Traitor.

Vote for Christmas card!

Which one will it be

A.

B.

C.

D.

How excited are you right now! YOU, yes you, can choose the Christmas card that I will send worldwide! Have you ever felt so much power?

Speaking of out with the old...

Okay, so my favorite girl is only four, right? She'll be five this month, but I'm holding on for dear life, but anyway...

She recently informed me that I am not allowed to say "totally", only kids and my much cooler cousins can. What!?! I mean, she is FOUR for crying out loud. When did I suddenly become so not hip. So keep in mind the fact that I feel like such a dud (yes I know I just doubled it by using the word "dud").

Today we stopped by Target [insert band of angels singing] and I picked up a really cute pair of dark red perfect heels that were 75% off - yes, I know 75! Practically free! So I'm thinking how cute they will be with black and grey when my favorite girl - using the term losely at this point - says,

"Oh mom, you can NOT get those. Those shoes are SMOKIN' HOT."

I'm sorry, WHAT?!? I can't get them because they ARE smokin' hot. And wait a minute...smokin' hot?? Since when do you say things like smokin' hot!! I mean I own an iPod for heaven's sake, doesn't that automatically make me crazy awesome?! The people on the commercials are so fab!

Did I mention the above happened on the day that ny favorite nephew's mom let a mortified gasp and demanded I stop only to proclaim,

"I see a grey hair, should I pull it?"

Um, no. But thanks anyway.

Well, I guess I better cut it short tonight. I need to go do laundry so my ultra high mom jeans will be clean and I'll have a fresh zip up cardigan with pictures of cats on it to wear tomorrow.

Out with the old...

The fam's brains turning to mush.

Today my family joined the ranks of countless people worldwide and subscribed to satellite television. Yeah, so I am really excited. Now at the simple touch of a button I have access to deplorable reality and a myriad of reruns that I have already seen for free, but I get to pay for it! No really, I know there are some good things on, it's just that I have no interest in using my free time trying to find it. So I guess if you have any suggestions, you could post it on a comment for me - maybe I'll actually get a comment now. Oooo, I could have another poll.
