Well we're having some good times around here.
We're checking out a VBS. Always fun.
Schyler felt that since we were in a new place meeting people for the first time it would be a good time to share the fact that I waxed my pits for the first time yesterday.
Always good to share.
She made up for it by telling me that I am such a good teacher to her.
So sweet.
Followed up with, "Even though you're a sinner, your still a good teacher."
Thank you Lord for keeping me humble.
It's just, does it always have to come by my six year old?

I could have taken a picture!!
I have GOT to get a camera phone.
We spotted a middle aged woman donning a romper (yes, like the ones toddlers wear)Friday. I mean honestly, those things don't look good on supermodels. Middle age women in Alabama who have given birth several times need to avoid them like the plague.
Amber was there, and is in the know on fashion, says her motto for summer is "just say no...to the romper".
Now there's a summer motto that people can truly benefit from. Forget all the mumbo-jumbo about sunscreen and safety.
We had a nice visit with Aunt Mama Hen and fam yesterday. Matthew tried to set the yard on fire, i.e.:make a torch. And we discussed many deep subjects. Most importantly waxing - where, when and why.
And while I sit here making light of trivial subjects, a dear and godly family make life and death decisions. Please don't forget. However, don't forget to turn it over to Jesus. We can't try to take it on ourselves.

Goodness.
We had such a fun day yesterday. Full of activity.
And best - all with wonderful Christian friends. It is so fulfilling to be in fellowship with people who love Jesus.
And the funny thing is, it was just birthday parties and get togethers.
It wasn't like Bible study or anything specifically Jesus related. However, the results of the day opened my eyes once more to the fact that when the Holy Spirit dwells within you, everything is specifically Jesus related.
It just is. And I'm so happy.
I saw some good kids yesterday. Such a rarity. An oddity, if you will.
Children with more responsibility than most adults, yet acting more like children than most children.
Funny how that works.
I saw young boys being trained to be men. Not whiny little tattlers running to mommy to fix everything. It did so much for my heart.
However there are some little men in training that need, not desperate prayers, but faithful prayers. Prayers from those of us who know the victory has been won.
I don't know this family personally, but I know his aunt personally and she is among my most favorite people.
If you will, go to their Caring Bridge site and read on.

Oh Dear.
Oh my word. Can I just tell ya'll.
For months I have been wondering why my blog is doing this funny thing.
When I add a picture the picture doesn't come up anymore. Just all these funny words and symbols.
And can I just tell you that it is increasingly more difficult to type as our new kitty is infatuated with the computer. Every time she hears someone typing she comes to bat at the screen and walk on the keyboard.
Anyhoo...so words and symbols. And plain text and stuff.
So I clicked (which is hard for me becasue I am so sure I am going to do something that I can't undo) on this tab up there called "compose" and lo and behold!
It's back to the way I rememebr it!
I never knew that I was "editing Html". I don't even know what that means.
I told someone once that it stood for Hot Tasty Meat Loaf.
So how 'bout that?! Wow. You know there are people that have no business owning any kind of technology. Yes. Right here.

I'm so sad.
Schyler is getting to the age that she is saying things correctly. I noticed on Monday when we had to stop by the Dollar General for cat food (we were adopted).
She used to say "Dollar Genital" which was much more fun.
Now she just says Dollar General. Nothing fun about that.
And I guess if she's not saying things correctly, then we should teach her to say it correctly. I guess when your teenager is still calling M&M's "Auntie Em's" (yes, we love The Wizard of Oz) it's not cute. Maybe a little weird.
I don't do a lot of pictures because, well, I'm way too lazy mostly. Also my computer is not the fastest. But I decided to post some today. So unless you are related to me the following is probably not going to be of any interest. But anyhoo...
This is who adopted us:

Part of living in the country is you get adopted quite regularly. I think someone dumped her out. So sad, but really they couldn't have done her a bigger favor. We call her Luna. Which we decided on because of the moon reference, but turns out it's more like Luna-tic. She's a little nuts.
Turns out running up to the top of that mound was a little harder than first expected -

Here is a good, GOOD, group of kids. The rest of those are Aunt Mama Hen's. And that guy that lives with her.

I was trying to take a picture of Schyler on our field trip to Golden Flake when someone announced "warm chips!". This blur was all I got. Honestly, they were worth it.

Couldn't resist the cat nap! Cheesy, I know.

Tons of appropriateness
Man, it is hot. Al Gore must be sitting back in his leather chair with a glass of whiskey twirling his mustache with a big ol' evil grin.
You know, who invented AC? I mean shouldn't we like have a day or something for that person? I mean don't Google (or Swag) it and then tell me, I'm trying to make a very important point here. No one knows who this poor person is. Maybe it just proves that they were doing it for God's glory and not their own. I'm pretty sure that God is glorified through AC. I mean I know it's a lot easier to glorify him when I am in AC.
I mean, I am totally not one to complain about the weather. For some reason I get very convicted if I do and I get uncomfortable when others do.
Weird.
Have I ever mentioned my height on here? Yes? Oh.
Well, I tried on a one piece swimsuit at Target yesterday. I thought this could be the one, it seemed so long. Always with my imagination.
Schyler laughed like a hyena and yelled, yes yelled, "You can see your booooobs!".
Yes, thank you. Note that it looked fine as long as I tied it around my waist.
So I walked out with new bottoms to match my existing tank. No worries.
We also went to "the thrift store" (remember, they're all "the". like the headache, the sinus, the wal-marks, etc., etc.) and bought a ton of books.
I'm reading "I Should Forgive, But..." and Brandon is reading (I hope) "Wild at Heart"(by John Eldredge). Naaaa, we don't have issues. No issues in this house. Now move along please.
Schyler and I took a little bike ride yesterday. Being too lazy to change out of the skirts we were wearing. Man I do feel for those Church of God-ers. I mean totally no offense if you are one. I'm just sayin'.
I remember I went to high school with a girl who was a church of God-er. Honey, she cussed like a sailor. She said things I didn't even know existed. And was mean as a snake. But as long as she wore her skirt, she was in the good.
So I guess I'll leave it at that. Surely I have managed to offend a wide variety of beliefs and lifestyles by now. Tomorrow I'll take on how I just read about Deborah and Barak in the Bible. And how the honor was taken away from Barak because Barak was too sissified to go to battle on his own so a woman led the way for him. And how Deb told Barak all of that before hand and he was totally okay with it (don't take my word for it - Judges 4).
How appropriate.
*wink & smirk* to all my CC (conservative Christian) friends that get it...and to all my non-CC's that get it and can take it. And if you get it but can't take it you should probably be reading a blog on NBC or CBS or something. So go there now.

Twenty. Pounds.
Oh my word, ya'll. I just bought twenty pounds of bacon. I kid you not. And I did not even get any funny looks.
Weird.
I swear, sometimes, do you guys take the time to read a few other blogs? There are some good writers out there.
I went through these feelings once before. I decided I was doing a disservice to the land o' blogs by having one myself. I thought I was just crowding the web waves with junk and keeping people from reading things actually worth their while. So I thought, oooh! I'll write about it and ask me lovelies (culture, culture!) what they think. Then I thought, no. They'll think I'm fishing for compliments - which is the worst. I am so not a fisher.
So I got a crazy impulse and deleted my blog. I mean deleted it. Gone.
Well, thank goodness Blogger must have been invented by a woman because she knew our fickleness. I came back, like a minute later and everything was still intact. They actually keep it for you for a while. I told you. It had to be a woman.
Now you're stuck with me. I mean, I guess not really, it's not like I'm forcing you to read. Good grief.
I met a lady today who thinks Jesus followers shouldn't have much of a sense of humor. How odd. I'm pretty convinced Jesus has an incredible sense of humor.
This was confirmed the day after I watched that Austin Powers movie with the "moley" guy. Remember? "Moley moley MOLE!!!"
I pulled up to a drive through and there was this guy with a huge mole on his face. It was a trying time for me.
I mean seriously. He was a spitting image.
Orchestrated by Whom? God - with a sense of awesome humor.
It was the only good thing that came from the Austin Powers movie for me. I hate bathroom humor. Anyone can be gross. That's not a talent.
But anyhoo - huuulllloooo. Sense.of.humor.
Exhibit B) Have you seen me?! Well, maybe not. But I'm a girl. And I'm six feet tall. Probably more like 6'1" or 6'2". And I'm a girl.
Huulllooo. Sense.of.humor.
Did I mention how cute I looked when I went and bought my twenty pounds of bacon. Seriously. Twenty pounds. I can not even tell you how ecstatic my husband is going to be.
Aww man. I should have thought and wrapped it up and given it to him for Father's Day.
Oh well.
Anyhoo...I looked cute. And this cute little guy stopped me. You know, admiring the general splendor. Lots of people were today, it was just one of those days.
And then he said, "You have a band-aid stuck to you."
Ooooooh. Thanks.

I don't know if this makes sense or not....
I'm betting on not. I mean not literally betting - I AM baptist after all.
Can I just tell you, I take a little flak for not being serious enough. Sometimes being accused of taking God's goodness to lightly.
Oh honey.
If you only knew the depths from which I was saved. The height from which I have fallen.
So some people don't know me that well. And so they don't know. So they are welcome to their judgments. Not justified in judgment, but welcome to it. I do believe in free will.
Do you ever go through something that you may not want to share, but you just about can't contain the result that God is producing? Isn't it wonderful?
That's when I might substitute a funny story. Like having Q-Fat. I mean, not that Q-Fat wasn't real. Oh it was real. It's just that I may sub that story in for a more personal one that would most likely bore you tears. And cause great embarrassment to my family. And really, I embarrass them quite enough without having to add anything else. Doesn't everyone have "that" family member? Well, that's me. Yep, you're looking at her. Well, um, not literally, but you're, you know, reading her? Whatever.
So anyhoo...I get to really tell everyone out there The Truth about God's goodness that I am experiencing and no one has to tell me to put the cuckoo back in the clock.
Doesn't that make much more sense?
The other day Schyler was telling me how hard it was to understand everything about God. I reassured her that the Holy Spirit will reveal what we need when we are ready for it, so don't get upset when we study something that you just don't understand right away.
She replied with,"It's just so easy for you. You were just born knowing all this stuff."
BWAAAAAA!!!!
If she only knew...
And she will!
(Can I tell you, it was so hard for me to get this out halfway seriously. Not to say something about how, yes, indeed I was born knowing everything. Too bad for all you sinners! Oh the restraint! The self control!)

Coupon Fatigue
Well, it hit. I've heard about it, but just couldn't understand it until it happened in my own home. You know God can use anything to the good for those that love Him, so I am just waiting on an opportunity to share my testimony in order to help others.
Oh it wasn't me, personally. Come on. What kind of person do you think I am? Sheesh.
It was my husband.
But don't worry. He gave me permission to talk about it (I think).
Anyhoo..."Q-Fat" as we like to call it. You know, its always good to make a disease sound hip and not like something we should try to avoid.
Anyhoo...Coupon Fatigue struck. And it struck hard. And girls, can I just say, it's fun for everyone. It is so easy to get sucked in.
Don't look at the price!
Just throw it in the cart!
Whooooooo wants cereal - WITH REAL NUTS IN IT?!?!?
Oh we are having bacon tomorrow for breakfast. And the thick cut kind too. It ain't been on sale in, well, ever!
I mean can't you see how fun and wonderful those statements are??
Before you know it your cart is overflowing and the bottom of your receipt that says "you saved ___" has a single digit number.
Shameful. Just shameful.
But we all know - sin is fun for a moment, but it never lasts. It turns it's back on you and brings condemnation and guilt before the grease cools in the skillet.
Mmmm mmmm mmmm.
We're all better now though. Back on the Q wagon. Clipping and spending responsibly. Repentant hearts receiving the immeasurable grace of Jesus.
In other good news...
The taste of butt is finally gone from my mouth, however, it is permanently burned into my brain.
Everyone here is well now, much to Schyler's dismay. She said being sick is awesome because I do everything for her (true). Back to work for her.
She tried faking a fever by holding a hot washcloth on her head and then running to me really fast before it got cool again. I never realized how dumb we think our parents are.

I think I'm gonna be sick...
Man I slept like a rock last night. I mean really. I didn't even wake up when Brandon came home. Good thing it was him. I guess I could have woke up to any old stranger.
I think I slept so well because well, number one, I ran/walked three miles yesterday. And number two, Schyler and I just didn't feel well. Just couldn't put our finger on it, but neither one of us felt that great. Could have been the result of all that durned physical activity. Blech.
Then I started feeling worse after I checked my temp. I didn't think I had one, but I just wanted to be sure. About the time I took the thermometer out of my mouth I started feeling nauseous.
It was right about the time Schyler said, "Did you know I took my temperature in my hiney?"
I guess my look gave my thoughts away because she followed up with, "It's okay. I wiped it off."
I'm sorry. I just can't finish. Just thinking about it gives me the compulsive need to go finish downing the bottle of Listerine.

Things I just don't get...
Okay. I will never try to fool you into thinking that I am the brightest bulb. There are, like, a trabillionty things I don't get. Translation: This list may not be that out there for you.
1. We went on a field trip to Whole Foods the other day. While waiting I was able to do some serious people watching.
I saw one flowy skirt natural girl walk out with her cart full of organics and...what?
Light up. Ummmmm HU-LLOOOO.
Yep. Maybe they were all natural fair trade cigarettes?
-Organic food + cigs = don't get
2. Schyler and I ran (I use that term loosely) a 5K today. There was a girl there working, wearing flip flops. Totally okay. I can deal. Love flips.
Her toes made me dry heave.
I can NOT deal with that. Just put some shoes on and spare us sister.
-Nastified toes + flips = don't get
3. On a serious note (I know, what?), what is up with the oil mess. How is it that there are no boycotts, protests, etc.? Why did the BP down the road still have a car at every pump? Where are all the global warming peeps?
Seriously. We risked a fine when building if we didn't get a barrier up in time to keep mud from washing down the road. Really? I mean REALLY!?!
I have a few things to say about a few leaders, but I won't. I want too. But I won't. I know! It's my blog! I can say what I want! I'm such a pansy.
-big fat mess + no consequences = don't get
4. My computer monitor was messed up all week. We tried everything to fix it. This morning, I unplugged it and plugged it into a different socket. Aaaahhhh.
-Me + having no business owning any kind of technology = don't get
So now I leave it to you. I have to go buy chicken feed, which Brandon is just mortified over. I would wonder why, but that man knows me all to well. There are certain tasks that are so simple, yet I can manage to find a way to make it THE most difiicult.
