I've got the power.

We have power! An exciting day here on our road! Although my daughter is a little disappointed. She enjoyed cooking on the camping stove and the slow pace of sitting outside in a communal gathering place connecting with neighbors in the evening. I have to say, that was a bright spot.

We found out that the tornado that came through our road was an EF-3.

My poor husband is still working twelve hour shifts, or more every day. On top of making sure we are cared for and have everything we need. He is so good.

Well, let me tell you about another bright spot! The day after the tornado, my sweet mail lady brought me a box. Listen, you should periodically leave treats in your mailbox for your postal worker. It is so nice.

So anyways - She brought me a box. Well it was from Heidi! It was all the makings for her homemade shampoo! And girls, she not only sent me the ingredients, she sent a bottle to put it in and a funnel to get it in there. She thought of it all! So sweet!

Now let me tell you the best thing. When I got online after our tornado, the first email I got was from her letting me know she heard what was going on and was praying for us. Is that God in action or what? She also said this -

"Between the hurricanes and tornado's you guys have to slog through, I think I'd be packing up and moving out of there! I hear California doesn't have either storms, and where we're at, at least, the earthquakes are more like foot massages . . . ;) "

Very tempting, Heidi. Very tempting.

I am going to post more about her shampoo recipe later. Right now, though, I'm going to go do laundry...I've never been more excited about laundry before in my life!!

I am SO glad you have power again. I hope everyone has restored power soon. I am so thankful for the men and women who work on our lines during the emergencies.

I know your husband is beyond tired, but I am thankful for everything he has done, too.

And on a lighter note... let me know about the shampoo, too!

Glad you guys are ok!

On a side note, thanks for getting that song stuck in my head!

I hate it when my power goes out. The longest I've had it go out was for a day, in the summer, had to throw alot of stuff away...

How is that laundry soap working out for you? Does it do a good job of cleaning? Does it make your clothes feel and smell fresh?

Yay for power!! Boo on laundry!

You have to tell me how you like the shampoo. There is so much pressure now for it to live up to all the expectations. I'm on pins and needles. :)

You know, there is something to that slower pace of life that is very appealing. I'm glad you were able to find enjoyment out of something so horrible.

Now I'm going to have to go back and find out what recipe you're using for laundry soap, and find out how you're making you're deodorant. I've tried using a crystal stone for a natural deodorant . . . but apparently I need something a little bit more ehem, powerful. ;)

Hi Mrs. Jennifer, I'm an Alabama native, living just over the line in neighboring state. I came to your blog through Susan Flutterby's. My nieces live in last week's tornado zone & me too, watched the storms pass just to the north & south of me, location was just missed, but neighboring towns got hit, but we got all day wind & torrents of rain!

I'm following your fine blog now, want to compliment you on it & say I'm waiting for shampoo formula. Have been using 5 star shampoo, out of it now & have been putting off ordering more cause I want to make my own. Hope it turns out well.

Love the name of your blog.:)
