Family Trait(ors)

Do you guys understand the excitement of hearing from God? The sheer awe and immediate sense of humbleness? WOO!

Anyway...have you checked out Aunt Mama Hen's blog? So they left one of their kids at church yesterday. Well, join the club. Can I just share a little story with you all...

The year - 1994, '93, somewhere around there. Either way, the wound - still fresh. Enjoying a nice relaxing camping trip to the beach with Grandparents, Uncles, Cousins, and one soon-to-be Aunt. In honor of (I guess) Uncle Mark getting to come down for the weekend and bring his lady, Uncle Hugh decides to treat us all to breakfast at Hazel's. Everyone starts milling around getting ready, doing the usual. I announce that I am going to the bathhouse "real quick". While there, in true coastal fashion, without warning the bottom drops out. A certain cousin is with me and she decides it will be fun to run back and a couple of years ago I would have agreed. But now I am old enough to know the damage this could inflict on my hair. I mean it is pouring so hard that I can't even see the campers anymore. Well, I figure surely no one is leaving in all of this anyway and even if they do they'll not expect me to walk all the way back in this so they will come by and get me. Not to mention that the certain unnamed cousin will alert the fam to my absence.

Minutes go by...storm clears...I think, surely they wouldn't...noooo...there's no way. I make my way to the sites. Yep. They're all gone. They left me. Please remember this is before they passed out cell phones with birth certificates. So I sit. And wait....and wait. Have they even noticed??!!

Finally someone shows up to retrieve the unnoticeable.

When we got to the restaurant, everyone jumped to their feet and hugged me, crying with relief that I was okay and begging my forgiveness. Oh, wait.

THAT WAS JUST ME DAYDREAMING!

They were all sitting there eating! I don't even think anyone noticed that I walked in! Or that I was gone in the first place!!

Oh, the life!

I think I should be excluded from all responsibility as I was not "officially a Clark" yet.

It didn't only happen to you. Way back in the day, BJ (Before Jennifer) either Mark or I were routinely left at church. This is because Nana drove separately from Mom and Dad, and everybody presumed we were with the other.

I understand being left. Any Clark child has been left or forgotten somewhere, there are just too many of them. What did God say?
