We visited the Museum of Appalachia while we were there. It was perfect for us because Schyler is all into the Little House books and pioneers and 1800's and all that. At least, until it's time to wash dishes. Then not so much.
This is a kitchen used by a family of 15. I think it's so funny, not haha funny, but ironic funny. This was a fine modern kitchen sufficient for this big family, and today people say there is no way you can provide for a big family with all of our modern conveniences.

Another funny thing. Some of you may have seen some of this man's stuff. He was in a coal mining accident and on his death bed promised to serve God. He lived and thus began his crosses and hearts. He constructed them and put them everywhere. I have seen some along remote areas of TN roads, but didn't know his story until the museum.

There were peacocks everywhere. I'm not really sure if they are actually indigenous to the Appalachia's, maybe so. But nonetheless, they were pretty and very entertaining.

Making friends...

...of all varieties.
Schyler accidentally started herding the sheep, which was quite a sight. Naturally, they thought it was time to go in their pen. This was unfortunate for me as I was standing at the gate entrance. I'm sure had I not been so busy smiling stupidly at my cute little precious child, I would have noticed that I was about to get mauled by a herd of sheep. But I didn't - notice, that is. Hence the reason there are no pictures of the cute herding.

I love that sign! Can I use the pic?
Ma - Of course you can use the picture! If you want to search the artist, his name is Harrison Mayes (not sure what the P.A.E. is for???)
Thanks, I think I'll put it on the sidebar somewhere. I've been in VBS land this week, so bloggy stuff in on the backburner.
