Well, we are approaching a time when everyone makes wonderful dreams of how they want to start afresh and what we will do different and better. Then we wake up and it's just another day and we realize that was all said in the heat of the bonfire and under the influence of sparkling grape juice bubbles infecting our brain.
However, just in case you want to go a little more natural, (i.e.:cheap) I thought I'd let you in on a few things we do around here.
Laundry: Super easy is the laundry detergent recipe that I already shared. We have been loving it and using it (wait- reverse that). I add a few drops of eucalyptus oil to towels and linens. I put vinegar in the fabric softener dispenser of my machine. Surprisingly, I don't smell like tossed salad, just fresh and clean and it eliminates static cling. I don't use fabric softener or dryer sheets at all.
Dusting: I use straight up olive oil with a few drops of eucalyptus oil. I put it in a spray bottle and spray it carefully onto my dusting cloth. Eucalyptus kills dust mites and is super good for people who have allergy problems.
I also use a mix of water and eucalyptus oil to spray my couches, chairs, and mattresses. I also spray it on my bed and throw pillows after a good 30 minute cycle on the hottest setting in the dryer.
Bathroom: I use baking soda and vinegar everywhere. EVERYWHERE. Tub, shower, toilet, sinks, counters. If I have a tougher stain I break out the Borax or Super Washing Soda. I keep some vinegar in a spray bottle to use on the walls or any other place that pouring it isn't convenient or if it may be wasteful.
Kitchen: Ditto. Pretty much anyway. I mix 1c SWS and 1c Borax in a container and use about 2 tablespoons with a teaspoon of powder citric acid in the dishwasher and vinegar in the rinse aid dispenser.
I have a Shark steam mop that I love, #1 because it is mucho easy-o and #2 because it uses nothing but water. If I feel like I need a little extra boost of clean I add a little vinegar to the water.
I know. I likey the vinegar.
So I don't completely bore you I'll stop there. I hope some of you find this easy and helpful. I hope that I glorify God in all that I do, even in little things like getting rid of chemicals and helping my family to really live like we believe that God has given us everything we need for good living - spiritually and physically.

So, you like eucalyptus oil? OK then...I shall get some ASAP. I love the oils for personal care, but I haven't used eucalyptus for cleaning. I'm trusting you. I don't know about making my own laundry soap....I wish there was smell-o-blogging so I could be sure you don't smell like a Greek salad. LOL! Lisa~
I do not envy the amount of times you had to type "eucalyptas".
I'm so gonna get some of that, btw. I like the idea of using it to dust. ( I say that like I actually dust...)
I love inexpensive cleaners. My only problem is that I hate the smell of vinegar! LOL
I love all the tips. I'm going out to purchase the Shark steam mop in 30 minutes. I've been hearing a lot of good things about it.
Here's to a cleaner, chemical-free home in 2011!
